High-quality dryout in helical coils

With the use of helical coils in steam generators of LMFBR, the problems associated with dryout are receiving wide attention. This paper describes the results obtained at the CEN-Grenoble with a freon-12 loop with electrical heating. The influence of pressure, coil diameter, mass flux and heat flux is analysed qualitatively, and a first attempt at correlating the results is presented.
