Anodic Protection for the Control of Corrosion Fatigue |
| |
Abstract: | AbstractPotentiostatic anodic polarisation studies have been carried out on two carbon steels and three stainless steels in oxidising media. The resulting curves clearly defined the conditions necessary for anodic protection. Apparatus was devised whereby corrosion fatigue tests could be conducted under conditions of impressed current. Potentiostatic anodic polarisation curves were also conducted under actual corrosion fatigue conditions. Fatigue tests were carried out in air, in unprotected and anodically passivated conditions. These experiments showed anodic protection to be in some measure beneficial in all cases of corrosion fatigue investigated. |
