| Abstract: | A general analysis is developed for the erosion of materials whereby material is removed through a process of erosion pit nucleation and growth. This model is applicable to a variety of materials exposed to liquid drop impingement and impingement by rounded solid particles. A fundamental limitation of the model is that material removal has to occur as a preferential process. |
