| Abstract: | Elastohydrodynamic lubrication of solids covered by a thin layer of material of low elastic modulus is studied theoretically and experimentally. The pressure and film thickness lie between the limits set by rigid and bulk elastic solids. The sliding friction shows a marked difference from that of rigid solids. |
