Who trains applied psychologists from developing countries?
Authors:Helms  Janet E; Giorgis  Tedla W
Abstract:Determined the extent to which international students from developing countries are being trained by American Psychological Association-approved doctoral training programs. A questionnaire was completed by 85 program directors. Results indicate that only a few institutions are training the majority of doctoral-level international students. Students from developing countries are less inclined to study psychology than are students from developed countries. However, once they have committed themselves to psychology, they are as likely as students from developed countries to choose an applied specialization.
