With the development of multimedia,a great of image information needs to be transported,so intend to relief the capability of Internet and satisfy diverse requirement of applications,image should be transported with multi-scalability.Up to date,JPEG is widely used for still image compression,and JPEG2000 is the most update.Firstly explain the notion of multi-scalability.Then addresses the multi-scalability mode used and their implementation in JPEG and JPEG2000,and discusses their difference,and gives opinions as well.Lastly,come to a conclusion,compared with JPEG,JPEG2000 is more full-scale,and also superior,especially its multi-scalability can be implemented embedded,but also has some shortages.
