By analyzing the our country's dependency on imported crude oil in recent years,the paper puts forward that the strategy for crude oil resources are the core strategy for development of our country's petrochemical industry in the new century while oil stockholding is the main component of this strategy.Developing natural gas as alternative energy,diversification of imported crude oil resources and increasing heavy sour crude oil processing capacity are main development trends in importing countries and also development directions for our petrochemical industry.
