Abstract:A set of software package possessing engineering practical value to calculate PWR hexagonal fuel assembly homogenous parameters has been developed in this paper. For calculation of neutron flux spatial energy distribution in PWR hexagonal fuel assembly, the integral neutron transport equation in hexagonal geometry is solved by the transmission probability method combining with the respond matrix method. In this method, the interior neutron source and flux within cell are assumed to be linear or quadratic in spatial distribution. At the cell surfaces, the simple 6P 1 approximation for anisotropic angular distribution is considered. At the same time, a rigorous and accurate method to deal with the water gap surrounding assembly is adopted. Basd on proposed model, the program TPHEX has been encoded. On the other hand, the PWR quadrate assembly software package TPFAP has been modified and reformed to TPFAP HEX by embedding the TPHEX into it and keeping all the original functions of TPFAP. Thus TPFAP HEX is capable for calculation of hexagonal PWR fuel assemblies. Numerical validation of VVER 1000 hexagonal assemblies shows that TPFAP HEX has satisfactory precision and can be used in engineering practices.
