Abstract:A new kind of passive adaptive MR damper was designed and made based on inverse magnetostrictive effect.It transforms the variation of load force into the variation of magnetic field through the inverse magnetostrictive effect,achieving the desired tensile purpose by controlling the damping force at the gap.Aiming at studying the variation of magnetic field distribution in the damper,the model of the relationship between magnetization and the applied stress was established.The distribution variation of the magnetic field was simulated by Ansoft software.The results showed that the simulation is consistent with the assumption.Static and dynamic loading experiments was done,and the results showed that the model predicts the relationship of magnetic flux density and the applied stress effectively,and has important significance for research of giant magnetostrictive material inverse effect and the damper’s internal magnetic field analysis.
