The choice of an effective,reliable and economic sootblower that is easy to maintain is of great importance to the safe and economic operation of boilers. The novel sootblowing technique of a weak blast pulse is applicable to utility coal/oil fired units. In this paper,the principles and configuration of this novel sootblower are expounded,and a cost-effectiveness analysis conducted to verify its better cost performance than traditional sootblowers.
