Abstract:The excellent electrolyte-philicity of carbon electrode materials could promote the(ad/de)sorption of electrolyte ions on its surface,thus increasing its electrochemical performance.In order to explore the influence of electrolyte-philicity on the electrochemical performance of carbon electrode materials with different porous structure,carbon microspheres,mesoporous carbon and hierarchical porous carbon were prepared by suspension polymerization,reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT)polymerization,and ultra-concentrated emulsion polymerization,respectively.And then the hydrophilic polyethylene glycol(PEG)brushes were grafted onto the surface of the three carbon materials to improve their electrolyte-philicity to aqueous electrolyte.Electrochemical test results demonstrate that the electrolyte-philicity of the hierarchical porous carbon electrode materials have more significant effect on its electrochemical performance,compared with the carbon microspheres and mesoporous carbon electrode materials.The specific capacity of the PEG-modified hierarchical porous carbon electrode materials could be increased by 245.4%than that of the unmodified one at current density of 0.625 A/g.When the current density is up to 6.25 A/g,the specific capacity of PEG-modified hierarchical porous carbon electrode materials still reaches 64%of its specific capacity at current density of 0.625 A/g.
