Abstract:Characteristic curves of critical current–strain (Ic–ε) of internal tin processed Nb3Sn strands were measured in the axial strain ranged from −0.9% (compressive) to +0.6% (tensile) at 4.2 K and 12 T by the Pacman spring. The scaling law between critical current and axial strain was simulated
with the improved deviatoric scaling model (the DEV model). The degradation of the superconducting critical current and the change of n value induced by strain were analyzed. The strain sensitivities of Ic were compared for the strands prepared by different processes.
