Abstract:The distributed optical fiber sensor technology based on Brillouin optical time domain analysis (BOTDA) has been widely used in strain and temperature monitoring of various civil, utility equipment. Above all things, there is a new type of sensor technology in particular: pre-pump pulse Brillouin optical time domain analysis (PPP-BOTDA). Centimeter spatial resolution is obtained by introducing the pre-pump pulse. The working principle of PPP-BOTDA technology is described. The advantages and application prospects of the new technology is introduced. The feasibility of PPP-BOTDA technology in pipeline safety monitoring is verified in the experiments.
