Abstract: | Consideration is given to the possibility of using crystalline hydrates as a source of water, on whose evaporation most of
the heat passing to the protected surface is expended. A version of the thermal protection based on silica fabric, whose pores
are partly filled with a crystalline hydrate, is studied. Test results are presented. Experimental data are analyzed.
