Abstract:A series of sulfonic acid-functionalized mesoporous MCM-41 catalysts were synthesized through polymerization and carbonization of the furfuryl alcohol on the pore walls,and then sulfonated in the presence of sulfuric acid.The catalysts were characterized by nitrogen adsorption measurements,XRD,pyridine-TPD and FT-IR,and studied for the esterification of acetic acid and ethanol.The results showed that a number of sulfonic groups attach on the pore walls with the mesopores of MCM-41 not being damaged,the acid...
