Abstract: | Abstract This paper proposes using a mixed biasing distribution in Importance Sampling for estimating the bit error rate (BER) via Monte Carlo simulation. The proposed mixed biasing distribution is more robust than the commonly used Gaussian tail distribution when the signal or the threshold setting is disturbed by a uniformly distributed random noise. In this paper the robustness is quantified by the mean squared error. |
