Abstract: | Rate data on liquefaction of a series of low pyrite bituminous coals in tetralin at 400 °C have been measured. Rates of disappearance of coal and rates of formation of oils, asphaltenes, and preasphaltenes have been determined, and kinetic parameters for coal disappearance calculated based on a second-order rate expression. The usefulness of kinetic rate constants as sensitive reactivity ranking factors is demonstrated. |
