| Abstract: | The various technologies available for treating sulphur-containing effluents and the main reasons for selecting a particu- lar technology are briefly discussed. The SULFOXTM technology,developed by KVT in the late 1980s and now owned by MECS DuPont is described in detail, especially its application in the treatment of metallurgical off-gases and any H2 S off gas. The decision factors of caustic scrubbing, SULFOXTM and conventional acid production technologies for treating SO2- and HES-Containing effluents are presented and relative total costs are compared by three case studies respectively. |
