Investigation on the Preparation of Polysulfone/Nonwoven Composite Membrane and Its Air Filtration Performance

Abstract:In order to improve the air filtration performance of nonwoven materials, a phase inversion method was used to prepare polysulfone(PSF)/nonwoven composite membranes. By changing the mass fraction of PSF, polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP), and adding inorganic hydrophilic nano-titanium dioxide(TiO_2), the influence of each parameter change on the PSF/nonwoven composite membrane was studied. The air permeability, filtration efficiency, pore size, etc of the composite membrane were tested and analyzed. It was found that with the increase of PSF mass fraction, the air permeability of the composite membrane decreased from 673 L/(m~2·s) to 27 L/(m~2·s), the filtration efficiency increased from 25.91% to 91.82%; with the increase of PVP mass fraction, the air permeability of the composite membrane increased first and then decreased.When the mass fraction of PVP was 11%, the air permeability was the best, when the mass fraction of PVP was 7%, the filtration performance was the best. When the mass fraction of nano-TiO_2 was 2%, the air permeability of the composite membrane was the best, and when the mass fraction of nano-TiO_2 was 4%, the filter performance of the composite membrane was the best.
