Abstract:The reinforcement of SBR with aluminium hydroxide modified by carboxylated polybutadiene was studied. The results showed that the surface activity of the modified aluminium hydroxide and its ability to combine with rubber increased. The reinforcement degree , apparent crosslinking density , apparent coupling bound and mechanical properties of SBRvulcanizates filled with the modified aluminium hydroxide were improved. The 300%modulus , the tensile strength and tearstrength of SBR vulcanizates filled with the modified aluminium hydroxide increased by 50% ,20% and 20% respectively. Other mechanical properties such as abrasion performence were also improved.
