The behavior of magnesium alloys during explosion welding and ways to prevent their failure

The causes of failure in magnesium alloys used as a component of multilayer composites made by explosion welding are analyzed. Ways to prevent the formation of cracks are outlined with the use of various techniques, namely, increasing the plasticity and decreasing the initial hardness, thermal treatment resulting in the elimination of structural heterogeneity, and the selection of welding flowcharts that exclude the dangerous effect of reflected depression waves.
