Abstract:In this work, the effect of leaching pretreatment on structure and reactivity of corn residues (corn straw and corncob) were studied. The reactivity was investigated using a thermogravimetric analyzer, including the pyrolysis and gasification. The physicochemical structure was analyzed, including the crystalline, functional group and carbon structure. The results showed that the biomass pyrolysis was mainly determined by the composition of biomass and the reaction temperature, while the reaction atmosphere had little effect. The leaching pretreatment can partially remove the inorganics and organics, such as the hemicellulose, pectin, etc. The pyrolysis stability of leached biomass was enhanced, whereas the gasification reactivity was reduced. The activation energy for biomass pyrolysis and gasification under CO2 atmosphere were piecewise analyzed.
