Abstract:The South China Sea is rich in natural gas hydrate resources, and the prospective gas hydrate resources are about 65 billion tons of oil equivalent. The study of natural gas hydrate petroleum system is a very important work, in which gas source is one of the most basic elements of natural gas hydrate petroleum system. Previous studies have shown that the gas sources of natural gas hydrates in the northern South China Sea are mainly biogenic gas and mixed source gas (biogenic gas and thermogenic gas), while the mixing type and mixing ratio are not clear. Based on the analysis of gas source rocks, the typical biogenic gas and thermogenic gas in this area are taken as the sources, and the proportion of source gas in the gas mixture is calculated quantitatively. The results show that the contribution ratio of thermogenic gas is up to 68%. The research results can provide reference for hydrate resource calculation.
