| Abstract: | The bulk volumes of three related siliceous minerals have been determined in vacuo and at water vapour pressures up to saturation. The minerals are a quartz silica, forsterite (an orthosilicate) and a kaolinite clay. A tentative explanation of the results is made in terms of the particle size, surface polarity and density of the minerals. |
