Abstract:Victor Giurgiutiu and Radu Pomirleanu of the Laboratory for Active Materials and Smart Structures, University of South Carolina, have co-authored a paper on ‘Energy based comparison of solid state actuators’. An abbreviated version of the study is presented here. Although this gives only US-manufactured actuator details, the data provide a valuable insight into off-the-shelf, induced strain actuators capacities and capabilities.
