Abstract: | We describe and demonstrate the operation of optical add-drop multiplexers (OADMs) based on photonic crystal (PC) structures fabricated by autocloning technology. In these OADMs, a three-dimensional PC structure was utilized as a Bragg reflector. We obtained a drop bandwidth of 2 nm at a wavelength of 1560 nm. We also demonstrate for the first time add and drop operations of the PC-based OADMs in a wavelength-division multiplexing optical transmission system. |
