Abstract: | An amorphous alloy composite coatings containing Fe71Cr5B4Si4Ni3Mo3W10 (wt%) and different mass fractions of Al2O3-13%TiO2 ceramic particles were successfully deposited onto plain carbon steel by atmospheric plasma spraying. The microstructure, the micro-hardness and the corrosion resistance properties of the coatings were investigated. The mutual diffusion among Fe, Ti, W, Al and O elements was found at the interface of ceramic particles and Fe-based amorphous matrix. The micro-area metallurgical combination could reduce the porosity generated by the addition of the second phase and enhance the bonding strength between the two phases. The micro-hardness of the composite coating increased by 20% when the addition amount of Al2O3-13%TiO2 was more than 16 wt%. The corrosion resistance ability of the composite coatings was better than that of 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel in10 wt% NaOH solution |
