As this article is the fourth of a series covering nearly a year's research and designwork with housing renewal,it is appropriate here to sum up the main observationsthat have appeared up to this point,and to put them in some perspective.The follow-ing is an outline of the chief goals of Beijing's renewal program,and their related prob-lems as well as merits.
