Difficult Technical Problems of Crossings in West to East Gas Pipeline Project and Countermeasure

In West to East Gas Pipeline Project, many difficult problems were met at Sanjiangkou shield crossing in Nanjing, at Yellow River directional drilling crossing in Zhengzhou, and at Yellow River pipe-pushing crossing. At Sanjiangkou shield crossing, the foundation is muddy with very low bearing capacity; the tail part of the machine was water-leaking; pipeline route passes through gravel stratum, and so on; At Zhengzhou directional drilling crossing, the drilling tool twisted off and fell off; At Yellow River pipe-pushing crossing, the main pipe was difficult to be sent over as well as to be fixed in casing pipe. Nevertherless, all problems were solved efficiently by means of practical and feasible measures. This paper describes the analysis on those problems and provides solutions.
