Abstract:Chemical structure and physical morphology of the surface of SACF p (sisal fiber based activated carbon fibers chemically activated by H 3PO 4) changed after thermally treated in inert atmosphere. As the temperature of thermal treatment increased, the ratio of oxygen to carbon decreased at first and then slightly increased, whereas the specific surface area of SACF p increased. The results of XPS indicated that the peak position of C1s and O1s almost fixed; as the result of elemental analysis, the content of the oxygen containing groups related to carbon appeared a low valley; and the obvious change of shoulder peak presented in the lower binding energy part of O1s. When the peak position of P2p moved to lower energy, the ratio of phosphorus to carbon increased at first and then decreased. The experimental results showed that the specific surface area of SACF p increased after redox adsorption. The reductive adsorption increased with the increase of temperature and inclined to be a constant. The mean crystal size of nano silver slightly decreases.
Keywords:activated carbon fibers  heat treatment  adsorption  surface states  Ag
