| Abstract: | A unified approach is developed for vibration analysis of rotating machinery that combines the advantages of finite element method (FEM) and transfer matrix method (TMM), while eliminating their respective disadvantages, It requires less storage allocation than finite element analysis and significantly reduces the computer solution time. However, the round-off error could be a potential problem with this method. Numerical examples are given. |
