Correlations between the sol fraction and concentration of elastically active network chains

Abstract:Relations between the concentration of elastically active network chains in the gel, veg, and the weight fraction of the gel, wg′ have been examined in crosslinked systems obtained by stepwise alternating polyaddition of a mixture of a tri- and bi-functional monomer bearing one kind of functional groups to a bifunctional monomer bearing another kind of groups. A reduction factor has been found bringing the dependence between log veg and wg almost to a single curve independent of the parameters characterising the initial composition of the system and conversion of the functional groups.
