| 摘 要： | 近年来，关于哪一所大学是中国近代国人自办的第一所私立大学的问题，众说纷纭。被认为是中国近代“第一所私立大学”的有复旦大学（其前身震旦学院）、南开大学、中国公学、武昌中华大学、南洋公学、正蒙学院等。笔者从“私立”和“大学”这两个关键词入手，通过对有关史实的梳理考辨，认为“南洋公学”是中国近代国人自办的最早的私立大学。

| Abstract: | There are many views about which private university was the first in contemporary China.Many universities,for example,Fudan University(or the former Aurora Academy),Nankai University,China College,Zhonghua University,Nanyang College and Zhengmeng College are all thought to be the first.This paper,based on a great deal of historical material,reaches the conclusion that Nanyang College is the first state-run private university in contemporary China. |
