Gaschromatographic determination of urethane in spirits and mashes Summary A new method for the determination of urethane in spirits and mashes is proposed. High concentration (up to 200 fold) combined with high recovery-values (80–90%) are attainable. With a concentration factor of 400 it is possible to get a detection-limit of 5 g/l (recovery 60–65%) with conventional gas chromatographic equipment. This may be acchieved by removal of the ethanol by distillation before purification of the sample and transfer of the urethane into an organic liquid of high volatility through a Chem-Elut-tube. |
