| Abstract: | Conditions for the derivation of formulae for the rake and clearance are presented on the arbitrary plane perpendicular to the reference, and the universality of application is advocated for both the basic and derivated formulae with the concept of equivalent tool edge and equivalent face or flank. Applications of these formulae are also given for various tools. |
