Application of Ionic Liquids in Alkylation Reaction

In resent years, the room temperature ionic liquids are being regarded more and more as relatively clean catalysts and solvents. The special properties of ionic liquids are introduced and their application in the fields of production of alkylating gasoline with high octane numbers by olefin alkylation and Friedel-Crafts alkylation of benzene and olefin, benzene and naphthalene, phenol has been reviewed. In these reactions, the ionic liquids have excellent catalytic ability and reactivity and take the advantages such as easy separating from the production process, catalyst reusable and less environmental contamination and equipment corrosion.
