Smart Grid Supporting Energy Security and Environmental Safety

A power system is closely linked to the primary energy and the environment. With the development of the renewable energy, the aggravation of the energy crisis, the severe situation of the environmental safety, the paper describes new challenges faced to the current power system. It is presented that the smart grid is a global frame to cope with these challenges, and that the smart grid is also an important part in the energy defense system and the environment safety system. Finally, it is pointed out that the smart grid should be read as the vision power system by exploring its essential connotation.
