Abstract: | A highly crosslinked thermosetting epoxy resin was modified by a reactive blending process carried out in the presence of bisphenol-A polycarbonate (PC). FTIR spectroscopy investigations demonstrated that the presence of PC in the blend decreases the reactants conversion after the curing and postcuring processes. Moreover, it was found that the fracture toughness of this blend system increases markedly by increasing the PC content in the blend. No evidence of phase separation of the minor component during the crosslinking reaction steps was observed. |
