Abstract:To recover and utilize the regenerative braking energy generated by a locomotive in AC electrified rail-way, a management and control system of regenerative braking energy is studied. An energy integrated management strategy based on the traction load state is proposed, in which the load power of the two power supply arms of a traction transformer is used as an information carrier to represent the different working modes of the system. Moreover, these modes can be switched to each other. By introducing the lithium battery''s SOC and the supercapacitor'' intermediate control voltage to the power distribution within the hybrid energy storage device, the energy storage unit can operate according to their own energy storage characteristics. The control algorithm for the railway power conditioner(RPC) converter and the energy storage interface bidirectional DC/DC converter is designed. Simulation results show the correctness and ef-fectiveness of the proposed system.
