Effects of ovariectomy on meal pattern in the albino rat.

In a study with 24 female albino Sherman rats, it was found that after ovariectomy most Ss increased food intake while continuing to eat discrete meals. Meal size increased in ovariectomized Ss, whereas meal frequency decreased. It is suggested that ovariectomy impairs the onset of satiety during a meal but not the ability to regulate total intake through modification of intermeal interval.
