Production of X70 pipeline steel by a Steckel mill line

This paper introduces the production of X70 pipeline steel by the Steckel mill line of Anyang Iron & Steel Co.Ltd.,focusing on the design of steel compositions and rolling technologies adopted.The pipeline steel production line consists of 150 t converter,continuous casting and Steckel mill.Owing to rational use of micro-alloying technology and Steckel rolling process,the X70 pipeline steel developed has excellent mechanical properties and the percent of pass reached 99.3 %,which can meet the requirements for long-distance oil and gas pipelines.
