The sediment matter was the crux in the Yellow River harnessing.Favorable topography terrain along the two banks of the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River using the desilting in flood season and exploiting some sediment was a part of the theoretic system of "Maintain the Health of the Yellow River".This article discussed the necessity and practicability of desilting in the Xiaobei Mainstream of the Yellow River,put forward that the Xiaobei Mainstream of the Yellow River was the ideal field for large scale desilting.It is one of the important strategic measures for solving the sediment problem in Yellow River.
