Study on maintenance of database for water resources engineering

With the water resources engineering database of Zhejiang Province as an example, a discussion was made on the manner for maintenance and management of the database after its construction, and a three-level (province, city and county) coordinating mode for maintenance of the database was proposed. By adoption of some valuable techniques, such as the employment of the temporary database for development of security buffer area and the use of serial servers for data copy and reduction of network loads, a water resources engineering database maintenance and management system was developed. The present system operating based on the network is clear in purview classification, reliable in data transfer, and highly efficient in database maintenance.
