Abstract:In order to reduce obsolescence of Automatic Test Equipment(ATE),it is necessary to make effective upgrades for its software and hardware.However,in the past it is hard to upgrade an ATE for its complexity and high cost on software development and verification.By running two or more operating systems in parallel on a single controller,virtualization technology provides a new way to solve the problem.In this paper,an review of virtualization and four upgrade modes of ATE based on virtualization are proposed,which are replacing controller,adding commercial off-the-shelf(COTS) hardware,adding new test program sets(TPS) and real-time test function.Then the negative aspects and expense of virtualization are given,and a corresponding conclusion is proposed.
