Abstract:The storage system of MIDS(Multimedia Intelligent Database System),which is a powerful, high-performance object storage system, is the heart of the MIDS Engine. The storage system is based on virtual memory mapping, offering the database features to manage large volumes of persistent, complex, shared and multimedia data, and with all the benefits of an object-oriented data model within a Client/Server architecture. In this paper, the basic principle of object storage system based on virtual memory mapping is introduced, then the details of designing and implementing such a system are provided.
