Abstract: | A numerical, non steady state microsegregation model is used to predict the extent of solute segregation in a ductile cast iron. The microsegregation of Mn and Mo to intercellular boundaries is shown to depend on the nodule count and the local solidification time. It is suggested that increased nodule count is the most effective way of reducing intercellular segregation in thicker components. |
