| Abstract: | Bingham model is used to describe the rheologic characteristics of magnetorheological fluids (MRF) with the application of an external magnetic field. The principle of a magnetorheological clutch(MRC) is presented. The effect of magnetic field strength on the torque developed by MRF is analyzed. The calculating formula of the torque developed by MRF is established.The theoretical foundation for the design of MRC is provided. |
