Abstract:
In this study, liquid phase sintering of Ni–W alloys containing a low W solid volume fraction was conducted. A solid-plus-liquid (mushy) zone forms at the compact bottom. A liquid head above this zone demonstrates macrosegregation. With increasing sintering time, macrosegregation is reduced concurrent with a decrease in the volume fraction of W particles and mushy-zone sedimentation.
