Abstract:A microsphere pressure sensitive adhesive whose particle size was 10-100μm was made with using acrylic monomers in the water phase in the presence of dispersant by suspension polymerization method. By mixing the cream (the micmsphere-rich phase) with certain percentage of the emulsion, thickeners and other additives, the pressure sensitive adhesive liquid was prepared, then coated it with a bar coater onto the paper, after drying, the PSA with good re-bonding property was manufactured. It was found that the addition of monomer A is an important factor for the preparation of this microspheres adhesive with good single-dispersion. By regulating the ratio of monomer A and other parameters, the performances of obtained pressure-sensitive microsphere adhesive was similar to the performance of foreign products in accordance with the method of detection mentioned on 3M company's patents. Its specific performance indicators were as follows: average particle size: 53μm; initial adhesion: 6# Ball; peel strength: 1.21 N/25mm; 100 times paste peel strength: 1.16 N/25mm; it could be easily peeled without damaging the paper after treating by 2 kg's pressure for a week. This adhesive could be used for various surfaces, and applied as self-stick notes, surface protective film for hard-bonding surfaces and even medical PSA.
