Abstract: | In this work, a series of multi-constituent nonwoven filter media possessing multi-modal fiber diameter distribution was prepared and evaluated for pressure drop and filtration efficiency. The same approach was extended to bi-constituent nonwoven filter media exhibiting bi-modal fiber diameter distribution and mono-constituent nonwoven filter media showing mono-modal fiber diameter distribution. While the multi-constituent filter media registered the lowest pressure drop, followed by the bi- and mono-constituent filter media, the mono-constituent filter media displayed the highest filtration efficiency, followed by the bi- and multi-constituent filter media. When both pressure drop and filtration efficiency were taken together, the quality factor of multi-constituent filter media was found to be higher than that of bi- and mono-constituent filter media. |
